Why I started Developing Student Athletes Academy...

Austin started the non-profit organization in his hometown of Akron, OH called Developing Student Athletes Academy (DSA Academy), focuses on the "total development" of student athletes. The programs have five parts of commitments: academic excellence, athletic excellence, personal development, service and career development. With this vision, the program strives to assist student athletes in attaining skills to become successful leaders and responsible citizens in our communities.

This program was created because I saw a need within our community that was missing something as it related to athletics, education, and college. I saw that parents and students were uneducated on the process of recruitment and financial aid. We noticed that the big name players were getting college scholarships, while other kids did not and did not understand the process on being recruited or getting noticed. After doing research we found that a lot of the issues were academics and students were not qualifying academically with grades and test scores.

My GOAL is to get our program in schools that will allow our program to educate the students on "what it takes to get into college, and be a recruitable student."
