Why I started Developing Student Athletes Academy...

Austin started the non-profit organization in his hometown of Akron, OH called Developing Student Athletes Academy (DSA Academy), focuses on the "total development" of student athletes. The programs have five parts of commitments: academic excellence, athletic excellence, personal development, service and career development. With this vision, the program strives to assist student athletes in attaining skills to become successful leaders and responsible citizens in our communities.

This program was created because I saw a need within our community that was missing something as it related to athletics, education, and college. I saw that parents and students were uneducated on the process of recruitment and financial aid. We noticed that the big name players were getting college scholarships, while other kids did not and did not understand the process on being recruited or getting noticed. After doing research we found that a lot of the issues were academics and students were not qualifying academically with grades and test scores.

My GOAL is to get our program in schools that will allow our program to educate the students on "what it takes to get into college, and be a recruitable student."

A local Akron native, Austin is a 2007 graduate of Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports & Recreational Management and Business Administration. Austin was a four year starter at running back and returner for the Tiffin University Dragons. Austin was a 3 time All-Conference and All Region player for the Dragons and was team MVP in 2006.

Austin has successfully worked with developing professional, collegiate, amateur and youth athletes in a variety of sports. His extensive knowledge in the areas of sports and performance enhancement makes him a significant addition to our organization. As a player, Austin was known for his outstanding work ethic, dedication, and commitment. These attributes carry over into the training style Austin utilizes helping his athletes and fitness enthusiasts succeed.  Austin’s energy and enthusiasm allow him to inspire his athletes to reach their athletic goals and reach their maximum potential. Since 2007, he has been able to help 100's of players of all ages throughout Northeast Ohio reach their athletic and academic goals.
